Hospital ranks for various cardiac categories
McAllen Heart Hospital announced today that it has been recognized by Healthgrades as one of America’s 50 Best Hospitals for Cardiac Surgery. Additionally, Healthgrades recognizes the hospital as one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Coronary Intervention and Cardiac Care for 2017. McAllen Heart Hospital is the only hospital in the local area to receive any of these honors. Furthermore, it is one of only 19 hospitals in the nation and two in Texas to be a “triple-crown” recipient.
Healthgrades evaluated nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide for 34 of the most common inpatient procedures and conditions. Annually, Healthgrades identifies the best-performing hospitals across all conditions or procedures evaluated.
Evan Marks, chief strategy officer for Healthgrades, says hospitals achieving the Healthgrades 50 and 100 Best distinctions have demonstrated a commitment to exceptional quality of care.
“A given community may have many hospitals, but only a precious few may provide better-than-expected outcomes for the specific care a patient needs,” he says.
The hospital also received the additional Healthgrades clinical achievements related to cardiology:
Recipient of the Healthgrades 2017 Cardiac Care Excellence Award and the 2017 Cardiac Surgery Excellence Award, as well as the 2017 Coronary Intervention Excellence Award
Named among the top five percent in the nation for cardiac surgery in 2017; also in the top 10 percent in the nation in 2017 for overall cardiac services, cardiac surgery, and coronary interventional procedures
Five-star recipient in 2017 for both coronary bypass surgery and coronary interventional procedures
For the eighth year in a row, five-star recipient for valve surgery (2010-2017)
