The Women in Technology event takes place April 19 at the South Texas College Technology Campus Atrium, highlight careers in technology considered as non-traditional for females. The event will include information booths from programs in the Business, Public Safety, and Technology divisions. This includes Fire Science, Police Academy, Engineering Design, Culinary Arts and Construction.

STC Information Technology Program instructor and event organizer Angelita Teniente says events like this are crucial for women who are interested in pursuing non-traditional fields. From 5-8 p.m. attendees can learn about both non-traditional classes at STC and career options.

“The event is extremely important for spreading the word about the opportunities and possible careers available for everyone, including women,” said Teniente. “Careers in automotive, welding, information technology, and manufacturing just to name a few. The event is also a celebration that not only provides information regarding career opportunities for women, but also honors women in the community who represent some of our programs.”

Women in Technology is hosted by the Business, Public Safety and Technology Division at South Texas College.
