UTRGV listed fourth in Top 20 in Texas ranking
The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley has been ranked fourth on a list of the Top 20 Best Online Colleges in Texas by OnlineCollegePlan.com.
The website focuses on helping students and parents make better-informed decisions about online college programs and opportunities available. It also processes information that can facilitate their search for an online curriculum that suits their needs and interests. Colleges chosen had to have at least a 50 percent freshman retention rate as well as 50 percent graduation rate.
UTRGV had a final rating of 141 of a possible 200 points, placing it fourth on the Top 20 list.
Patricia A. McHatton, UTRGV interim provost and vice president for Academic Affairs, said online education is an increasingly important option for today’s students.
“It can be a real challenge to juggle a job, a family and college courses as you try to improve your career options,” she said. “UTRGV feels that academically rigorous online programs provide scheduling flexibility that doesn’t compromise quality. Online courses can make all the difference in how quickly a student can earn, or even complete, a degree.”
