Are Your High-Tech Ideas Eligible for Funding?

seed moneyThe UTRGV SBDC invites high-tech, innovative companies interested in seed funds for research and development to attend a workshop March 27-28. The government’s Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer programs are the focus. The two collectively offer more than $2.6 billion in high-risk, non-dilutive capital available to innovative small companies annually.

Expert speakers for the sessions include Michael Kurek from BBBetc and Bijo Mathew from the UTSA SBDC Technology Commercialization Center. Attendees will learn about SBIR/STTR program basics. This includes eligibility requirements, the difference between SBIR and STTR, participating agencies, and tips for success. The two-day session will focus on SBIR/STTR funding by the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the National Science Foundation (NSF). Attendees will also learn about opportunities and resources that the UTSA SBDC Technology Commercialization Center and collaborative partners have to offer.

The program is hosted by the UTRGV Small Business Development Center in partnership with the UTSA SBDC Technology Commercialization Center. Registration is $40 and includes continental breakfast and box lunch.

The workshop takes place at the Community Engagement and Student Success (CESS), 1407 E. Freddy Gonzalez Drive, Rm 1.118 in Edinburg.  Session times are 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. daily with check-in at 8 a.m.
